CHILD SAFETY · EFFECTIVE JULY 28, 2026

Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation.

These globally applicable standards explain how iChat prevents, reports, and responds to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Prohibited conduct and content

iChat strictly prohibits CSAE and CSAM in every profile, chat, group, voice message, image, call, and iShare post. Prohibited behavior includes grooming, sextortion, sexualization of a minor, trafficking of a child, soliciting sexual material from a minor, sharing or threatening to share intimate imagery involving a minor, and attempts to obtain, distribute, or facilitate access to CSAM.

Accounts may not use coded language, private groups, links, artificial or computer-generated media, or off-platform coordination to evade these standards. Consent is not a defense when a child is involved.

Report inside iChat

Use a post or account menu and choose Report → Child Safety. Users can also block the reported account immediately. Reports are kept confidential from the reported user and are prioritized for trained review. Do not download, forward, or redistribute suspected illegal material in order to report it.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or law enforcement first. The iChat Support page lists the public contact channel available at launch.

Our response

When iChat obtains actual knowledge of suspected CSAE or CSAM, we may promptly restrict access, remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, preserve information required for a lawful investigation, prevent further distribution, and escalate the case for specialist review. We do not notify an alleged offender when doing so could endanger a child or interfere with an investigation.

Confirmed CSAM is handled in accordance with applicable law, including reporting to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the relevant regional authority when required. iChat responds to valid legal requests and retains only the evidence and audit records necessary for safety, legal, and fraud-prevention duties.

Accountability

iChat maintains an in-app reporting mechanism, restricted moderation access, auditable review decisions, and a designated child-safety representative in Google Play Console who can speak to enforcement procedures and take action. These standards supplement the Community Standards, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policy.
